This is the second time that Freymond Lumber has proposed this quarry. If you would like to compare the current 2017 reports with the 2015 proposal reports, the 2015 documents are included below. It is worth noting that peer review of the hydrogeological survey put forward in 2015 found it to contain inconsistencies, mischaracterizations, and a lack of proper consideration. The 2017 revision hasn’t been peer reviewed yet.

Keep in mind that the documents below are prepared by outside businesses that are financially motivated to make their customer happy. They are asked to answer very specific questions in these reports, but those questions may not address obvious relevant issues. For example:

  • Archaeologist looks for ancient remains, but excludes the bodies known to have been buried outside the cemetery fence during the 1900s.
  • Traffic analyst gives a rosy picture of the intersection of Bay Lake Road and Highway 62, but excludes the obvious problem at Highways 62 and 28 (Bridge Street West). Heavy trucks waiting to turn left will cause traffic to back up to the curve, where the river and hillside prevent properly pulling over to allow emergency vehicles to pass, and the sharp curve impedes visibility for oncoming traffic.
  • Reports may mention the existence of a cemetery immediately adjoining the property, but none address key points of concern specific to gravesites, such as shockwave damage to buried remains, the effects of dust and noise during interment ceremonies, and the social/cultural implications.

Read. Use your unique knowledge and skillset to find the gaps. Ask the authors tough questions. Most importantly, include your problem findings when you file your objection.
